Transformation Challenge

When did you start your fitness journey?

I decided as a 2019 New Years Resolution that I was going to make an effort to get healthy and lose weight. I was convinced by my friend (Kristin Overbey) to try Revolution Fitness and joined in January. I started working out a few times a week and then took February off for vacation and various other things. When I started back at Revolution Fitness again in March I had to start all over again! It was super hard and frustrating. I decided I wanted to reach my goals and March was going to be my last start over ever and I have been going regularly ever since.

What motivated you to start?

I was motivated to start at Revolution Fitness to feel better. I have been overweight since having my two children and I was tired of not feeling good all the time. I always felt lethargic and unhealthy and I hated seeing pictures of myself. I decided it was time to fix it and start to feel like myself again. I also am in grad school working on my Masters in Education Administration and Supervision to become a leader in education and part of that for me is to also look the part. I want to look and feel confident and strong when I move into a leadership role after graduation.

What were some of your goals when you started?

When I started, my main goal was to lose weight and look/feel better. After starting I made it a goal to get through workouts and push myself to go workout in general. Getting there is half the battle!

What are your goals now?

My goal is still to continue to look/feel better to be healthier but now I also have the goal of becoming stronger with more endurance and not being afraid to push myself to try new things. I want to keep building confidence!


What have been your greatest achievements?

My greatest achievements so far have come as little victories. Being able to add weight to the bar instead of just using the bar, being able to do a sit up, being able to do a burpee without assistance, jumping rope, running laps without walking, etc. I wasn’t able to do any of those things before and now I can! I also am really proud of my 3-month challenge before and after pictures. The scale wasn’t changing as much as I hoped but the pictures showed that all my hard work is paying off!

What were/are your biggest struggles?

My biggest struggle was being embarrassed. I was embarrassed and mad at myself that I couldn’t do things when I first started. The embarrassment stemmed from always being the last to finish and needing modifications to some exercises. I hadn’t worked out in a very long time and definitely hadn’t done most of the things we do at Revolution Fitness for even longer, if ever. I had to learn that I can’t compare myself to other people and I have to just do my personal best. I also struggled with being exhausted from work, parenting, and grad school but I had to find time for my self-care and health because they are important too! I am better overall by taking care of myself. I am still a work in progress but I’m getting better every day!

What advice would you give to new members?

It’s really, really hard (especially at first) but DON’T GIVE UP! It doesn’t get easier but it is true that you get better. The more you go, not only do you get better but you also get to know the other awesome people at the gym and they become your supporters and cheerleaders too!

What is your favorite thing about your workouts?

I love the feeling of accomplishment when I finish a workout. I always end and think, “you did it!” It is a great feeling to think you can’t do something and then you do and do it better than you ever thought you could. I feel like a total badass after a tough workout!

I never in a million years thought that at 37 I would be doing the things that I am. Some of the workouts are things I would’ve struggled with when I was in my early twenties and in great shape and I’m doing them now! I’m super proud of myself and I can’t wait to see how much more I can accomplish in the coming months and years! I love that I overcame my fear of working with a trainer and going to a gym like Revolution Fitness-it was the best thing I could’ve done for myself!

 

 


Where to begin...

Where to begin... I am a 56 year old women who has survived breast cancer and has had bilateral hip replacements. I have always exercised, mostly cardio with a little weight training but was not getting the results I had hoped for. When a co-worker told me about Stephanie and "Revolution Fitness" I thought I would give it a try.....after all the first workout is free!!!!   I must admit after that first workout I hurt in places I didn't know could hurt!  I realized that this "boot camp" workout could be just what I needed. I signed up for 1 month of "boot camp".  My measurements, weight and photos were taken. Stephanie calculated my % body fat and % lean muscle.....I had my starting point!!!  At the end of the month all measurements etc. were redone.  My % lean muscle was up while my % body fat was down...I was excited to see and feel the positive results....that was 6 months ago and I am still getting leaner and stronger ��. Our/My health is precious and requires our active participation to be maintained.  Working out is not easy but the benefits far out weigh the work...."LIVE LONGER STRONGER."


I am a 37 year old...

I am a 37 year old married mother of one. Since having my daughter I had been struggling with my weight. Before starting at Revolution Fitness I had been watching my diet and exercising regularly and had managed to lose 30lbs. I had reached a plateau and was getting frustrated. I heard about Revolution Fitness through a co-worker. After my first workout I was hooked!! I instantly could tell I was working muscle groups I had not worked before. I made the decision to sign up for the unlimited boot camp package. Seven months later I have managed to lose 6% body fat while gaining lean muscle and couldn't be happier with the results. I have not felt this strong and healthy since I was in my 20s. Added bonus is my husband has noticed the difference and he LOVES IT!! UPDATE: I have been a member of Revolution Fitness for 3 years now and could not be happier for the decision I made to join. My goals over the last 3 years have continued to progress. Initially I just wanted to lose the extra weight that I had been holding onto since my pregnancy. When I met that goal the next one was to get my body fat down to 15% which was no easy feat since my starting body fat was around 26%. I am happy to say that I was able to accomplish that this spring. With the encouragement of Steph and other members my new goal is to see if I am able to get my body fat down to 12%. The workouts can be challenging at times but when I finish I feel a since of accomplishment. I can honestly say if I have to miss a day I get frustrated. The classes offered provide a stress relief form me that I didn’t have before. Steph is always there to encourage and push you to do the best that you can. She knows what each member of the gym is capable of and pushes them to perform their best. Yet she also knows when a person is not able to perform certain exercises and makes modifications for them as well. The comradery with the other members is also key to making the workouts fun. Everyone is always encouraging you to finish those tough workouts. Some even will do extra reps after they are finished so you aren’t left as the last one completing the exercise. I have honestly made lifelong friendships with other members of the gym. We are like one big happy family. I have been able to accomplish so many things since joining Revolution Fitness. I have completed several 5K runs which speaks volumes for someone never being a fan of running. Steph also encourages members to participate in several other events throughout the year such as the Warrior Dash, Savage Race, and Beast Bootcamp to name a few. This past spring I competed in my first Festivus competition and for being 41 years old I think I did extremely well competing with people in their 20s. I enjoyed the competition so much I let Steph talk me into joining the partner Festivus competition this fall with another member from the gym


Before contacting Coach Steph...

Before contacting Coach Steph at Revolution Fitness, I had lost 40 pounds however, I lost it the wrong way by not eating, dieting, stress, etc.  My eating habits were horrible. I knew I needed help on living a healthier lifestyle with good nutrition and an exercise routine. I contacted a friend of mine who I watched transform her life into a more healthy and fit lifestyle. We reviewed my lifestyle and what I was looking to accomplish, she recommended Coach Steph at Revolution Fitness.  I was not the workout type, but contacted her and went to see Coach Steph.  I didn't really know what I was walking into.  She put together a workout schedule and we began to work on my food plan.  We decided on 3 day a week Semi-Private Personal Training plan it's very challenging but rewarding. I didn't know how long I would stick with this new lifestyle, well it's now been 6 months and I love it!  Coach Steph really keeps on you with food logs and always pushes you in the workout sessions. I have lost and additional 15 pounds, lost another 15 pounds of fat and my body fat has gone done 5%+ since joining Revolution Fitness.  I've started running and doing 5k's and have now signed up for several obstacle races/runs with members of Revolution Fitness and Coach Steph.  My blood pressure and blood sugar have all gone back to acceptable/healthy levels.  I feel much better and life is good now!  The staff and members at Revolution Fitness are amazing and have become my second family.  Joining Revolution Fitness has been the best decision I could make!


I started my journey...

I started my journey off weighting in at 375 lbs , the Dr said I was a border line diabetic. I had lost 20 lbs before joining Revolution Fitness that is really where I had to get serious. Coach Steph and I put together a plan that worked for me , i started off working out 3 times a week ,now I work out 5 to 6 times a week. As of today I'm down 60 plus pounds, I'm 57 years old it has been one of the toughest things I have done, but the most rewarding. Eveyone is so supportive I highly recommend Coach Steph and Revolution Fitness.


After treatment for breast cancer...

After treatment for breast cancer, I made the conscience decision to change to a healthier lifestyle.  When I first met Steph Woods, I was severely weak from several surgeries & chemotherapy.  I was also over weight, had poor mobility, little flexibility & became severely winded by just simply walking up & down my stairs at home as a result of my poor eating habits & sedentary lifestyle.

 Now I can proudly say that after working out with Steph as my training & nutrition coach for the past 3 years, I am 4 sizes smaller, increased my lean weight from 121.35 to 132.57, dropped my fat weight from 59.64 to 33.43 & dropped my body fat percentage from 32.95% to 20.14%.

 With Steph in my corner, she has encouraged me to push myself to a stronger, leaner & more self-confidant me.  I enjoy the camaraderie & friendships that I find at Revolution Fitness. Instead of sitting at home watching TV, I now find myself with the Revolution Fitness Team participating in community events such as 5K runs, obstacle course activities & physically challenging fundraisers that I never would have dreamed of doing before.

 I beat cancer twice & because of Steph Woods & Revolution Fitness I am thoroughly enjoying a healthy active life.
